Since its establishment in 2009 by gallerist Cynthia Corbett, The Young Masters Art Prize returns this year, celebrating contemporary artists. With artists joining from all over the globe, the Young Masters Art Prize 2014 will also involve the shortlist of 15 ceramicists for the first Young Masters Maylis Grand Ceramics Prize.

This year’s will select a winner among the 300 applications, from a panel of judges including art historian and journalist Godfrey Barker as Head Judge, the Royal Academy of Arts’ Secretary and Chief Executive Charles Saumarez Smith. Founder of Sphinx Art Roy Bolton, international collector Werner Grub, Fluff PR Founder and Director Ben Austin, as well as the Young Masters Art Prize Associate Director Daisy McMullan.

The shortlist of this year’s award includes commercial photographer for Rolling Stone and GQ, Red Saunders, textile designer Alice Palmer, and painter Caterina Voltolini with works influenced by Italian artists Fra Angelico and Giotto.

The participated artists will show their works in two exhibitions, at the Sphinx Fine Art and Lloyds Club, which will also feature Lottie Davies, the previous winner as guest artist. On the 29th October, the judges will award the prizes, selecting winners who will take part in the 2015 Young Masters International Tour.

and Young Masters Maylis Grand Ceramics Prize 2014 will be held 16th September – 5th December at Lloyds Club, Crutched Friars, London EC3 and 14th – 31st October at Sphinx Fine Art, 125 Kensington Church Street, London W8 7LP
