Multi-award winning director, writer, producer, music producer, as well as visualist Baz Luhrmann will be presenting a mesmerising exhibition with his wife, costumer designer and producer Catherine Martin, at this year’s Art Basel Miami Beach. Entitled ‘A Kid Could Do That!’, the presentation is in curatorial collaboration with Nellee Hooper. Showcasing major 20th century artworks, the project includes selected works by Francis Bacon, Robert Indiana, Wassily Kandinsky, Yves Klein, Wifredo Lam, Mikhail Larionov, Kazimir Malevich, Joan Miró, Pablo Picasso, Kurt Schwitters and Cy Twombly.
As represented by Galerie Gmurzynska, the B02 booth in Art Basel Miami Beach highlights the importance of modern art for today’s audience. As stated, “Very few newly created works endure or leave an indelible imprint on popular culture unless at birth they draw passionate juxtaposing critical responses.” The exhibition will be a ‘rich curatorial stepping stone’, particularly for today’s art scene in the art fair occurring early December.
Alongside to , the award-winning director of ‘The Great Gatsby’ and ‘Moulin Rouge’ will exhibit a historical film footage from the 1930s, which features Miró’s ‘Jeux d’Enfants’ painting from the Ballet Russe de Monte Carlo production. With the original painting and the staged set designed by Miró, Luhrmann’s exclusive reinterpretation will also be shown in the fair.
