The Morgans Hotel Group has opened it’s first Mondrian branded hotel outside of the United States, opening on London’s South Bank. The dramatic building with nauticle handcrafted copper features is a welcome addition to the electic South Bank scene.
The hotel designed by Design Research Studio under the creative direction of visionary Tom Dixon, boasts 359 guestrooms and suites, two exciting new bars, an expansive restaurant with private dining rooms, a maritime inspired 56-seat cinema and an exciting new spa concept all with stunning riverside views.
The restaurant, named Sea Containers will be headed by Seamus Mullen and executive chef Luke Rayment. The restaurant will bring Seamus’s talent and passion for cooking fresh, seasonal cusine that is sustainable, carefully sourced and perfectly prepared. The hotel will also host an exclusive rooftop bar, Dandelyan, which will be open in mid October and will be overseen by Ryan Chetiyawardana, A.K.A MR Lyan. Serving innovative cocktails with inspiration taken from the botanical wilds of the British countryside and around the world.
The rooms incorporate metallic and brass throughout, fitting in perfect sync with the location and taking inspiration from the golden age of transatlantic ship travel and ocean liner cabins. Each room features bespoke furniture from Tom Dixon, one of pieces of art and a mini bar pre-packaged with Dandelyan cocktails, mixed by Mr Lyan himself.
The 56-seat screening room will feature showings of the latest leading arthouse cinematic hits for guests and public to enjoy. The ground floor will host the new Lazarides Edition gallery presenting a schedule of book launches, bespoke exhibitions and independent screenings.
