Art Basel | Our favourite picks from the Switzerland art fair

Art Basel came to an end last week in Switzerland. Featuring works from 285 worldwide galleries and a showcase of works from 34 modern and contemporary artists, here are our favourite picks from the renowned art fair.

The National Portrait Gallery is once again showcasing the BP Portrait Award 2014. From 2,377 entries, there is a select 55 portraits exhibited at the gallery, including the 3 shortlisted for the award.

Detroit Institute of Arts | Bruce Weber photographic exhibition

Condé Nast presents a new exhibition honouring the residents and vibrant culture of Detroit. DETROIT – BRUCE WEBER, takes place from 20 June – 7 September which features internationally acclaimed photographer, Bruce Weber. His portraits will be shown at the Detroit Institute of Arts (DIA). “Condé Nast is pleased to partner with the DIA to present this one-of-a-kind exhibition that showcases the spirit and greatness of Detroit,” said Condé Nast CEO, Charles H. Townsend.

The Beaumont | New Mayfair hotel by Corbin and King

Restaurateur titans, Chris Corbin and Jeremy King, will open their first hotel, The Beaumont, in early autumn 2014. The grand hotel consists of 73 rooms, which includes 22 suites, and is situated in Mayfair, London.
